Also features commentary of events such as the abdication, the Coronation and the Golden Jubilee that mark her role in history and in the modern state. Also includes film footage from Her Majesty's private collection.

To commemorate the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, THE QUEEN AT 80 follows a cross section of the monarch's engagements over the year, looks back on her life and reveals her influences and sources of inspiration.

Taking stock of The Queen's modern role, THE QUEEN AT 80 interviews those who know her well, revisits the Golden Jubilee and observes her working lfe in her 80th year inclding the Royal visit to Canada and the Commonwealth Head of Government meeting in Malta. Through extensive archival footage (including private archive of the Queen's wedding day and coronation), it also paints a sympathetic but candid portrait of the young girl who woke up one morning to discover her special discovery.

It explores how she survived the shock of her father's early death and depicts how as Queen Elizabeth II, she repeatedly demonstrated her greatest strength - a priceless ability to be the calm centre of any storm!!
