Few shows in TV history have delivered more dark wit than Ken Finkleman's groundbreaking series, The Newsroom. Winning legions of fans and numerous awards, both in Canada and around the world, the shows' caustically comic, behind-the-scenes look at the workings of a television network's local newsroom has been applauded by both audiences and critics.
Back this year are anchor Jim (Peter Keleghan), who in the face of world disaster is plagued with a wardrobe dilemma; Karen (Karen Hines), whose b**chiness is temporarily transformed during a love affair; Matt (Matt Watts), confidante and foil to George; and Allen (Douglas Bell), the overeducated, under-achiever with no voice.
Joining the cast is segment producer Jason, played by author Shaughnessy Bishop-Stall (Down to This: Squalor and Splendour in a Big-City Shantytown); Susan (Sarah Strange), George's boss; and Nora (Kristin Booth), George's assistant.
In addition to the very funny, very entertaining Finkleman fare, fans are in for a surprise this season as The Newsroom takes a leap into the world of animation in the sixth episode Learning to Fly.
