Craig loves lions so much he is creating the Zion Wildlife Gardens as a paradise for his feline friends, who include 14 Barbary Lions, seven Royal White Bengal Tigers, four Bengal Tigers and four extremely rare White Lions. But this is not all happening in the African Bush as you might have suspected, this is all taking place in New Zealand! Series 1 follows the joys and frustrations of Craig and his partner Karen, as they rear and interact with the cats in a very up close and personal manner. Craig is genuinely gifted with these incredible creatures and he s creating a sanctuary for them where they are stimulated and happy. There are triumphs and disasters, laughter and tears as the park gradually expands, and more animals find a haven. Series 2 of The Lion Man follows the exciting developments at the park, as Zion Wildlife Park moves into stage 2 of its expansion plans. With the park now closed major construction work is underway to provide the animals with amazing new enclosures. Along the way we also follow Craig on his adventures. He travels to South Africa to sort through the red tape to enable him to bring the first ever White Lion to New Zealand. We follow him to Queenstown where he shoots an amazing international commercial with a young lion. We also tag along with Craig as he visits one of the most spiritual big cat havens in the World, a monastery in Thailand where monks live in harmony with tigers.
