The tale begins when Jesse betrayed by a member of his own gang, is brutally gunned down. With Jesse gone, Frank is left alone with his memories and as he recalls their years together - the legend of America's most notorious outlaws unfolds in flashback - the blody shoot-outs, the rail-road robberies and bank jobs: the women drawn to them by the thrill of being with the wildest desperados the West had ever known and their days on the farm where Frank thought they might finally stop running until Jesse's thirst for the action and excitement of the old times took them back on the outlawed trail.
