Description
To dodge the 1920s Mann Act barring the transport of women across state lines for 'immoral purposes', not-yet-divorced Nicky (Warren Beatty) has felonious buddy Oscar (Jack Nicholson) marry Nicky's runaway heiress sweetheart Freddy (Stockard Channing) so they can all escape New York for Los Angeles. The three set up house together, but trouble starts brewing when odd man out Oscar decides to get Nicky's attention by exercising his rights as a husband to Freddy. Exasperated with being stuck in the middle of the bickering pair, Freddy threatens to donate her impending inheritance to charity, inciting Oscar and Nicky to hatch a plan to bump her off and keep the money. But Freddy just will not die, prompting the three to reconsider the whole arrangement.

THE FORTUNE (DVD 2005)

Starring: Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson & Stockard Channing.

During the 1920s, the "Mann Act" Prohibited transporting a woman across state lines for "immoral purposes." Therefore, Nick (Warren Beatty), eager to run off to California with his sweetheart Freddie (Stockard Channing), arranges for her to marry his friend Oscar (Jack Nicholson) until his divorce is final.

Oscar agrees, banking on the notion that marriage to an heiress could only prove financially rewarding. However, nobody bargained for love and lust to turn this simple business arrangement into a confused lovers' triangle.

Ultimately, the only way Oscar and Nick can expect to benefit from Freddie's wealth without killing each other is to kill her and split the inheritance fifty-fifty. But will their desire for her fortune overcome their affection for Freddie  herself?

Beatty, Nicholson and Channing prove it takes three to tango in this hilarious farce from the director Mike Nichols (The Birdcage).

This DVD is in good condition and plays well. There are some superficial marks on the disc which do-not effect playback or scene selection.
