The Boo Radleys includes: Martin Carr (guitar).Recorded at Rockfield Studios, Wales in January and February, 1996.A consistently imaginative album and one that reveals at least one clever hook or twist in every track. Returning to the spirit of Giant Steps after their recent chart forays, a screeching wall-of-guitar noise dominates the title track, which leads into increasingly strange subject matter ("Meltin's Worm") and fresh musical ideas throughout. The dub feel of "Fortunate Son" recalls the mighty "Lazarus," and the Simon And Garfunkel-style harmonies of "New Brighton Promenade" emphasize the Boos' stunning ability to write crafted, melodic pop songs. Overall a highly uncommercial album, it nevertheless restored the band's reputation as inspired pop experimenters.
