ULTRA RARE VINTAGE CLASSIC TECHNICS TAPE DECK RS-1700. 

A LEGENDARY REEL TO REEL TAPE RECORDER, CIRCA 1978.

One of the finest tape recorders ever produced, in good vintage condition. It has been in storage for many years and now must be sold as I am moving house. I switched it on and recorded then played back in both directions and all buttons work so I assume that it still works as it use to. It gave the clear sound that I remember it giving in the past.

These are collectors tape deck with the RS 1700 changing hands in the US at around £2,500 on eBay. It is very unusual for one of these decks to come up on eBay within the UK, last one was a couple of years ago as far as I can remember.

Heavy item weighs over 56lbs (unpacked weight), will need to be really well bubble wrapped and double safety boxed.

Delivery will be via courier (UK only) at a cost of around £60 depending on location. Would prefer for the purchaser to pick it up in person due to its weight and the possibility of damage in transit.

The photos are of the actual deck and what you see in the photos is what is for sale. Whilst not in the photos that tape deck also comes with two Technics NAB reel adaptors.

The feet on this unit are rubber as it had been rack mounted in the past and the original feet lost. Some staining may be seen on the top panel and the take-up spool centre clamp has been repaired, none of these things cause the unit not to function, just adding the information for completeness.
