Although the cost of good teak furniture can be daunting at first, you have to think of it as an investment.

Outdoor furniture experts offer the following tips when shopping for quality teak furniture:

1. Look for furniture that's constructed from one or several large pieces of wood, instead of many small pieces glued or screwed together

2. Check to see how big of a gap there is between the slats. Better furniture will have a smaller gap (approximately ½ inch) compared to 2-inch gaps between the slats in lower-grade furniture.

3. Look for a smooth grain.  Hardwood teak won't be streaked. The grain will be nice and consistent.

4. Check to make sure the furniture does not have knots

5. The best teak furniture uses mortise and tenon joinery with dowel inserts (a mortise is a squared hole and a tenon is a squared finger that fits into the mortise).

6. Look for teak that has been kiln-dried to just 12% - 16% moisture.

7. Look for furniture that has a smooth, silky sanded finish.

The table comes with a Beautiful butterfly extension leaf and is a magnificent piece of craftsmanship. The high quality teak table top is over an inch (3 cm) thick! and the table weighs in at over 70 kilos! The table also has a solid brass fitting for a parasol. Overall dimensions when fully extended length 2.4 metres (8 feet) . Width 1 metre ( 3 feet 3 inches).

The extension leaf neatly folds under the table by way of brass hinges when not in use.

We only import Grade A quality teak. Our furniture is made from seasoned kiln dried teak that is then finely sanded. All our teak furniture has the Indonesian BRIK certificate, stating that the product is made from teak from sustainable forests.

Due to the superior quality and close grain of our teak there is no need to oil our furniture. In time the wood will mellow to a beautiful silver/grey colour, however a regular application of teak oil will preserve the darker 'as new' colour if you prefer.

Be careful !! - cheap alternatives available on ebay are easy to spot just look at the consistency of colour of the wood.

We charge £60.86 plus VAT i.e £70 to deliver this heavy and large set of furniture, you may percieve this to be expensive, however due to the high cost of fuel it actually costs us more than we charge and we have to subsidise the difference. We can only subsidise this so far, so due to the obvious distance and the cost of fuel a surcharge of £50 will apply to deliveries to the North of Scotland, Irish Republic and Northern Ireland. You are more than welcome to pick this furniture up yourself or use your own courier.
