A RARE edition of this classic poetry anthology in a highly collectable deluxe TALWIN MORRIS binding.

 Talwin Morris (1865 - 1911) was a revolutionary designer of book covers in the early 1900's. A significant member of the Arts & Crafts Movement & European Art Nouveau. His designs brought the Glasgow Style to a wider audience.

The full version of the important 19th century poetry work by Tennyson.

Illustrated with portrait frontispiece. 

Bound in Talwin Morris designed cream vellum decorated boards featuring stylised flower motif in gilt, blue & green to front cover.  Similar elongated version to spine. 

Decorative endpapers featuring similar Morris design.   Arts & Crafts style publisher's logo to title page.

Printed on high quality paper. Top edge of pages gilt, other edges deckled.  Blue silk ribbon bookmark.  

This highly collectable 1900s decorated vellum edition is in very good condition.  A scarce edition which is rarely offered for sale.  Reserve price therefore set.   

 

 

 

 

Slight marking to extremities of cream boards. Small scratches to front cover motif  (as pictured).  Front board a little bowed.  Pages clean & tightly bound.    

Ex The Brough Library, Hexham, presented by the late Herbert Dove Esq.  with bookplate thus to front pastedown. 

Interesting Arts & Crafts design insert pasted to rear of frontispiece showing CS (SC?) monogram.
