Superb Arts & Crafts copper large cigarette box with enamel plaque by A.E. Jones and dating from circa 1920.
This is a wonderful Arts & Crafts copper box with strap-work and standing on four feet. The centre of the lid has a large blue and green enamel mounted into a strapwork 'frame'.
The box is some 7-3/4 inches / 197 mm wide x 5-1/2 inches / 140 mm and it stands 2-3/4 inches / 70 mm high. The box is heavy weighing 815 grams.
The box is in excellent condition and the hinge is in perfect order with the lid closing flat. The box also stands flat on it's four feet. There is no damage to the box or the enamels.
The box is unmarked but you can see similar box illustrated in ''The Silversmiths of Birmingham and Their Marks 1750-1980'' by Kenneth Crisp. (Page 181).
