Beautiful hand made sterling silver and smoky quartz pinwheel brooch pin, signed RLS .925 Mexico with the delineated eagle 2 stamp which dates the piece between 1948 and 1955 and to Iguala. The stamp is mentioned in the reference book: BILLE HOUGART'S sourcebook titled, THE LITTLE BOOK OF MEXICAN SILVER TRADE AND HALLMARKS, (2006 EDITION). This brooch is large and graceful, having a lot of eye appeal. The diameter of the brooch is 2" and the stone is 5/8". There's nice height, three dimensionality to the piece and it's well made with thick silver. There's a locking clasp and everything is in excellent vintage condition, without a problem. The stone is clean, bright, and well-cut. Weight is 20 grams. This is an Art Deco piece with clean lines and created at a time and place when they did the highest quality silver work. You'll thoroughly enjoy owning this one.
