Superb Sterling silver Art Deco jug, fully hallmarked for 1938.
This is a beautiful jug designed by the master silversmitth H.G. Murphy and made by his pupils at the Central School of Arts & Crafts.
The jug is very heavy and has a wonderful patina with all over gently hammered finish. The shape and design are superb making this an extremely elegant piece.
It measures 5-1/8 inches / 130 mm wide and stands 4-1/2 inches / 114 mm in height. It is very heavy weighing 320 grams.
The jug is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
The underside has good clear hallmarks - Lion passant, London mark, letter C for 1938 and maker's mark CSAC for Central School of Arts & Crafts.
