The featured photo of Warwick Davis signing (This poster was to his right hand side) at the Wow Factor retail shop in Darlington will accompany this item along with other photos of Dave Prowse, Jeremy Bulloch & Kenny Baker stood next to this poster....either after or before they signed it...This poster is in fabulous condition and all autographs have been obtained in person over the last 13 years. This poster does not come framed but will be sent out rolled in a secure postal tube, anyone wishing to collect in person is very welcome to the frame at no extra charge. It comes with a lifetime certificate of authenticity. A new shop has brought Hollywood to Darlington.

THE head of the Alien monster is just visible through the eerie smoke that fills the shop entrance, little gremlins bob their heads in the window display, lightsabers blink in the corner and Marilyn Monroe keeps a watchful eye over everything.

No, this is not the prop department at Warner Brothers but The Wow Factor, a new shop at the Cornmill Shopping Centre in Darlington just opposite HMV.

The Wow Factor is a must for any serious movie fan and a collector’s paradise. There are signed and framed pictures of every pop, sport and movie star, current and past, hung up on every wall. There are eyecatching hand-painted canvases of actors and musicians and there are real film props and merchandise from major Hollywood films. And what’s more they are all authentic.

That’s what makes them so valuable and sought-after, reckons owner Andrea Johnson, who opened the shop on the 4th July 2008.

“I think it’s very exciting to hold something that somebody you admire has held before,” says Andrea.

“I always think that having a real autograph of a movie star brings you a step closer to that person, Imagine owning a stunning photo of your idol. Held by them, signed by them and treasured by you"

Andrea opened her shop on July 4th to coincide with the American Independence Day, since most of her stock comes from the US. She opened with a signing session with Star Wars actor David Prowse, better know as Darth Vader. The star, who probably only the most avid Star Wars fans would recognise without that famous black mask, nevertheless proved very popular and gave shoppers a taste of autograph hunting.

Her passion for collecting movie memorabilia started when Andrea’s partner gave her a signed picture 15 years ago. The idea for a business selling such items, however, came when she went to America on a holiday and saw whole shops dedicated to it.

“When I came back from America,” she says, “I started up a website which we’ve now had for over four years, I made some really good contacts at Elstree Studio's which then led to some very famous signing events at the shop"

Now that she has expanded her business and opened a permanent shop, Andrea couldn’t be more optimistic.

Andrea, who is a member of the UACC, the Universal Autographs Collector Club, to give her stock the extra stamp of authenticity, reckons that photographs signed by the stars, as well as genuine movie merchandise, are real investors’ items that not only make great presents but will also reward collectors in the future.

The Wow Factor sells Original screen used film props along with a selection of Replica film props (For those of us that can't afford Freddy Kreugers real glove or that elusive Wonka Bar.....) There are also 18" collectable figures from music and film, Lightsabers, Headknockers, T-shirts, Posters and Rare canvas art imported from Los Angeles.  

Andrea has also come up with a unique way to attract people into her shop.

Shoppers are asked to scribble their own name on a piece of paper to find the person with the most flamboyant, unusual signature.

“This is a monthly competition where we put up a star’s autograph as a prize. The person we think has the coolest, funkiest signature then wins that picture.”

LATEST SIGNINGS

Doug Bradley aka "Pinhead" from the cult Hellraiser movies attended the Wow Factor retail shop for a special signing event in November 2008 and spent his signing day meeting and signing for fans in a specially made Cenobite's lair with hanging chains, hooks and other pieces we won't mention......Doug Bradley said that the event at the Wow Factor was a "Hell of a good day"......Doug signed Canvas art, photographs and collectable 7" and 18" Pinhead figures whilst he was with us.....

Dave Prowse aka "Darth Vader" returned to The Wow Factor and brought with him Kenny Baker aka "R2 D2" for a signing event in December 2008. Along with a Princess Leia and Chewbacca lookalike we also had Stormtroopers and Imperial Guards collecting for the British Legion charity, there was an endless line of customers the whole day and we needed the Stormtroopers to keep all the rebels in line.....Dave and Kenny were signing collectable figures and lightsabers, photos and posters whilst they were with us.....

Warwick Davis the star that played "Willow" alongside Val Kilmer, "Leprechaun" alongside Jennifer Aniston and "Wicket" the Ewok from "Star Wars" attended the Wow Factor shop in Darlington in February 2009. He was also famous for his roles as "Nikabrik" from "Prince Caspian", "Marvin" the Paranoid Android from "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" and also in the "Labyrinth" and "Harry Potter" movies......Warwick signed photos and posters whilst he was with us.....

Jeremy Bulloch who played "Boba Fett" the Bounty Hunter from "Star Wars" attended for a special signing event in March 2009 and  Jeremy was signing Posters, photos, canvas art, collectable figures and even his autobiography whilst he was with us.......
