I use the following grading to determine the condition of a postcard. Any comments are welcome.

Mint:                    like new, postally unused, gloss intact

Excellent:             no obvious flaws, sharp corners, clean, no yellowing due to age, stamp not removed, visually  a very attractive postcard

Very good:           minor defects, for example album marks, evidence of age and  of handling, still visually attractive

Good:                   noticeable defects, including slight creasing not more than 1cm  and very minor tears (not more than 2mm) and postal
     stamp, corners blunt, may be neat writing on front of postcard, some minor staining, stamp may be removed neatly, no
     part of card missing, visually acceptable

Fair:                      creasing more than 1 cm, staining more than minor, small tears not more than 5mm, noticeable damage to corners,
     visually acceptable

Poor:                     incomplete, seriously flawed, for use in filling gaps in a collection until a better  quality copy is obtained
