Relive the golden years of hot rod racing in the UK. Richard John Neil has opened up his photographic archive to produce a pictorial look at the sport from 1971 to 1979.
The Seventies was the 'golden era' of this type of racing. There were hundreds of cars racing nationally and throughout the course of the decade the sport moved from being one for the working man to one which had virtually professional teams racing in a countrywide Grand Prix competition.
Heroes like George Polley, Barry Lee, Mick 'Duffy' Collard, Tom Laffey and Gordon Bland thrilled the crowds week in, week out.
Hot rods have evolved even further since the seventies but the sport retains a keen knowledgeable nationwide spectator base.
The book features over 200 photographs from the 1970s along with captions which go to depict a cross section of cars, drivers, circuits and events. from what was a golden era for the sport.
