A Soviet Russian Red Army Combat Cap Badge. A nice cap badge measuring about 22mm across from the former Soviet Union. This is the combat version of the red star cap badge worn by soviet military personnel throughout the Second World War, the Cold War and Afghanistan, right up to the collapse of Communism in Russia. The badge has been painted in a greenish grey colour so it is non-reflective in sun or moon light and will therefore not betray the position of the soldier wearing it and make him/her an easy target. A nice historical badge for the collector of militaria or for the social historian. I must appologise for the scan which lacks depth of field resulting in some of image being slightly out of focus.
