Sony VAIO PCG-FX101 PC Notebook

In good cosmetic condition, all covers / keys present and working. Freshly installed with Window ME and all VAIO drivers. Battery life limited (consistent with age), but PSU not supplied (have used a Maplin laptop supply to date, is cheap & works great).

Boots and works fine, although please remember this is MS ME, so unsupported now by MS. Bright & clear screen excellent (no pixel drop out) to 1400x1050.

Supplied with PCMCIA Ethernet card for wired Internet access, works a treat.

The not-so-good points are that:

1) There is a BIOS password which is unknown, but generally not a problem since most settings are available via the Sony control panel setup icon. Has not caused an issue to date.

2) DVD/CDROM fails to read disks. Sometimes pushing & holding the tray helps, but not always.

Has served well as a family browser for Internet (homework etc) and usual kid games websites.

Owing to BIOS password / DVD drive issues, sold as faulty. There are postings on Internet to remedy, but have not needed to. No surprises, so no returns, sorry.

Perfect for a cheap entry level PC working out-of-the-box; Why pay more?
