Sony Ericsson Xperia X1

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 mobile phone is the first Sony Ericsson product to use the Windows Mobile operating system. Slide out the QWERTY keyboard and the whole thing has the appearance of a tiny laptop… although that's not the only way to use it. The 3-inch screen is touch sensitive, there's a 4-way navigation key, there's handwriting recognition and there's also an optical joystick to move your on-screen cursor.

There are way too many features to list here, so let's just say it's a phone equipped for fun and work. The entertainment part boasts DVD-quality videos and a 3.2 megapixel camera. The work part has special mobile versions of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook for your contacts and email. Plus there's GPS, WiFi and ultra-fast 3G HSDPA. With its premium quality metal body and intuitive usability, the XPERIA X1 makes it easy to stay connected.

  • Videos and images are truly bright and vibrant even in bright sunshine.
  • A total of four navigation options: the touch screen controls, a four way control key, optical joystick navigation and the keyboard.
  • An optical sensor stuck in the middle of the four-way directional pad that lets you flick your thumb over its surface, and it will scroll up and down, side to side.
  • The 5 way d-pad doubles up as an optical joystick and allows you to perform more discrete movements.
  • There are also XPERIA panel buttons and a Windows Mobile OK-key.
  • A useful microphone is situated at the base of the front panel, whilst the power switch is located at the top of the phone alongside a 3.5mm headset jack for headphones.
  • On the left side of the phone is a mini-USB port, the micro-SD card slot, and a speaker.
  • On the right hand side of the phone there is a camera shutter button, the camera zoom button and a volume key.
  • The phone incorporates Bluetooth wireless technology that gives you cable free connection to other Smartphone & other Bluetooth compatible devices.
  • The GPS system makes use of Google maps and WayFinder Navigator that come pre-loaded with the handset.
  • Send images captured with the integrated 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus
