Description:
An excellent railwayiana locomotive watercolour on artist's paper, signed Michael Crawford and dating circa 1960 - 1980. Framed - approx 18 X 23 inches (45.72 X 58.42cm).

This is an excellent English Railwayiana watercolour dating from the late 20th Century.
The painting depicts the original Snow Hill Train Station in Birmingham, demolished in 1977, shown during the age of steam, one locomotive drawn up at platform seven whilst the disembarking passengers make their way to the exit. Further passengers sit at the seats, waiting for their train to arrive. Birmingham Snow Hill is a railway station and tram stop in the centre of Birmingham, England on the site of a much larger station which was built by the former Great Western Railway (GWR). It is the second most important railway station in the city, after the former LMS Birmingham New Street station. It is also the terminus of the Midland Metro light rail line from Wolverhampton (via Wednesbury and West Bromwich), pending the line's extension.
The work is signed Michael Crawley lower right.
Date:
The watercolour probably dates to around 1960 - 1980.
Framing:
Original plain moulded Pine. Finish: White.
Condition:
Excellent - bright and well defined. The frame is a little tired.
