Smoked Dragon Cane

This item is authentic Smoked Dragon Cane.

The majority of original school canes were made of Smoked Dragon, but genuine new Smoked Dragon has not been in the UK for many years - I have been fortunate in acquiring a consignment of raw cane.

It is being sold in accordance with ebay-policy as a collector's item only.

The photo compares Smoked Dragon to 'ordinary' Dragon and highlights the glorious dark brown colour and patina that is characteristic of Smoked.

This example is 24" long and is 3/8" approx in diameter.

The tip has been rounded.

It is extremely high-quality cane, cut so that it is perfectly balanced. Each node (knuckle) has been carefully sanded down by hand to leave a really smooth, natural-coloured cane that is unrivalled by any other type.

This cane is very dense (compared to Kooboo rattan), but is surprisingly swishy and flexible. It will easily bend, but then springs back to its arrow-like straight shape when released.

The cane is at present 'natural', but, if the buyer wishes, I will polish, linseed-oil or varnish it at no extra cost.

My canes are very flexible, durable and of high-quality.

Considerably more canes have been sold than my feedback reflects because many buyers wish to remain anonymous and so do not wish to give or receive feedback.

Naturally, these wishes are complied with and to avoid any possible misunderstanding in this respect, 'buyer' feedback is not left unless the 'buyer' first leaves 'seller' feedback.

In addition, email/name/address details are NEVER disclosed to ANY third party.

Hand-made by myself from carefully selected imported Smoked Dragon cane (the finest available), each cane is a replica of canes used in schools up to the 1980s, and, amongst other things, is ideal for fancy dress, theatricals, or as a novelty lounge-wall decoration.

For authenticity, the cane is unvarnished.

The cane is supplied with a free booklet entitled 'Cane Care & Interesting Facts'.

The cane has the following specification:

  • Diameter: 3/8" approx

  • Length: 24" overall length.

  • Flexibility: Very firm, very dense and therefore quite heavy compared to Kooboo rattan, but somewhat swishy

Smoked Dragon is a natural plant, so no individual cane is exactly like another. In particular, some dry even straighter than others - and some have what look like dirt-marks but are in fact markings on the cane itself.

Nearly 50% of the cane I receive is discarded because of meaningful blemishes - only the best parts are used.

The package can be despatched to any address - not just to the buyer's address.

The cost of postage/packing includes cardboard, parcel tape and time - the value of the stamp(s) that you see on the package isn't the full story!

For UK buyers, payment can be made by Personal Cheque, Postal Order, Bankers Draft, or Paypal. If payment is made by personal cheque, the item will be despatched as soon as the cheque has cleared.

For overseas buyers, payment needs to be by Paypal.
