Nice wooden box I think it may have been a cigarette box judging by the interior smell. There is a small hole in the base so it may have also been a musiacal box. As for the wood I'm not sure it has a very nice grain and golden brown colour. The edges are sloping with carved detail. The lid fits inside the base of the box. The top of the lid measures 4.5 x 7.5 inches approx 3.5 inches high.
