Chalet Les Arolles is a fantastic self-catering chalet for rent in Montalbert La Plagne, a charming and authentic French alpine village in the La Plagne ski area. As part of the Paradiski mega-resort, this chalet is on the doorstep of one of the largest ski areas in the world.

The chalet has four bedrooms and can sleep 10. It is five minutes walk from the ski lifts. The view from the chalet across the Tarantaise valley is majestic.

Montalbert is at 1350 metres, but snow cannons ensure you can always ski in and out. It is thus a perfect base providing season-long access to a network of 400 kilometres of high-altitude pistes that stretch across La Plagne, over the valley to Les Arcs and down the back of the mountain to Champagny.

There is skiing here for all appetites, from gentle to hard core, with miles of off-piste and also glacier skiing in La Plagne and Les Arcs.

Chalet Les Arolles is recently built, it is spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished. It has a large open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting-room with a log-burning fire and huge windows which reveal the stunning valley view. It is becoming a favourite among the regular guests who have stayed there over the past few winters.

The village of Montalbert is tucked just below the main resort of La Plagne and benefits from a much more traditional feel while being fully linked in to the entire network. The village itself is fully self-sufficient, having its own reasonably priced ski school, ski-hire, shops, restaurants and bars. For holidaying in winter or summer, Montalbert is a great spot.

Montalbert is one of the satellite villages of La Plagne which is itself situated in the vast ski area called Paradiski - the second largest in Europe. In 2003, when La Plagne was linked to Les Arcs by a new cable car called the Vanoise express, it opened up a total of 420 kilometres of piste. For snowboarders, there is also a boarder cross and a half-pipe in Plagne Bellecote.

Montalbert itself, though, does not feel big or brash as it retains a charm and atmosphere not found in many ski resorts in France. There are a variety of pistes into the village itself which are all tree-lined, perfect for those low visibility days and good for snow cover until very late in the season.
