This is six volumes of The Plays of Shakespeare Illustrated. They were published by Cassell & Company LTD., edited and annotated by Charles & Mary Cowden Clarke. They were illustrated by H.C. Selous, J.D. Watson, Fred Barnard, W. Small, etc. There are loads of black and white illustrations in these beautiful books. All volumes have seen better days in regard to the covers, but though slightly yellowed with age and somewhat musty the insides appear sound and complete. They are 9.5 inches by 12.5 inches. I have done research on these books but I am only able to estimate the publishing date as between1883 and 1890. There are other Cassell & Company Illustrated editions of Shakespeare, mostly 3 edition copies, with tragedies, histories, and comedies in their own volume, but this one has a least six volumes we are missing here volume II but have volume VII. In volume II we believe we miss some comedies, but VII includes a preface, story of Shakespeare's life and his will!
We cannot to find any other books that resemble this series. This item will weigh around 13 kg when packed so we will send by courier in the UK (48 hours just £10). International customers please ask for a quotation for Shipping & Handling it may be possible to send individually but together as an example courier to USA will be around £60 (approx USD 90).
