Sweet single speed, commuter / track style bike with a bare metal finish / black forks colourway. Really nice condition for an older used bike - built around an old Peugeot - a nice light(ish), lugged frame with brand new forks. The idea behind the bare metal frame was to pick a powdercoat colour at some stage, but as I built it up to see what it looked like, I kinda liked it - so i've left it. The frame measures a mid size 23" seatmast (centre to top) and a 22ish" (centre to centre) toptube. I'm 5'10, with an inside leg of 32" - this still fits me spot on - with a stand over height of 32.5", although with the long seatpost fitted it'd also suit those from 5'6 up to over 6'0.
Nice retro wheelset - chrome 36 spoke laced to Mailllard alloy hubs front & rear with brand spanking 700c x 25 black & gumwall clinchers. Bars are alloy shorties, with super soft, new krayton grips - great for spinning through city traffic. Stem is vintage polished SR - super short reach for instant response. Cranks are nice, polished SR Custom 170mm with a 52 tooth front ring and new 18 tooth ACS Claw freewheel. The pedals are VP caged - with new resin toe clips and straps. Seatpost is a nice alloy 26.0mm micro adjuster topped with a lightweight black Selle Bassano racing saddle. Brake is an almost new Radius with new pads, lever is a short reach mtb item with a new cable.
The bike's in good nick with lots of new stuff, inc re-greased hubs, headseat and BB. All in all, this is a really sweet single that runs nicely, but PLEASE remember this bike isn't new - so there's some very minor marks - but that said, it's totally unique - you're not going to see another one like it!
I've treated the frame with a wipe of light oil - this holds the rust at bay, but you need to stay on top of it as shotblasted steel has a tendancy to fir up pretty quickly. If you're interested, I can arrange for the frame to be powdercoated (at an additional cost) in a colour of your choice - giving you the opportunity of a truely bespoke build. If this sounds like a bit of you, email me for details...
Now the small print. You're more than welcome to view whilst the auction's running. Payment within 3 days after auctions end - cash on collection is king, although you're welcome to pay via PayPal, cheque, MO, PO - whatever, but the bike will only be released upon cleared funds. I'm located in Romford, Essex which is 20 minutes out of Liverpool Street - so ideal if you're after a London hack. My postal costs reflect the time and effort I spend packing my bikes - I want it to reach you as you see it in the pictures - not all dinged up because it's been squeezed into a cereal box. Any questions at all? Just ask - thanks for looking, good luck and be sure to check back later in the week for my other auction for another larger single speed!
