PRODUCT:
  • 1 taper holder in the shape of a Medieval Monk.  This reproductions was sculptured in silver by courtesy of The Boston Museum of Fine Arts.  It comes with original insert and original box.  The box is not torn, but the edges are missing a lot of the outer blue color.  I think this guy has been moved from drawer to drawer for years.
  • Stands approximately 3” tall, is 1-1/4" from elbow to elbow and 5/8" from front to back.  I don't have the correct type of scale, but I did weigh the Monk on my postage scale and it weights 3.2 ozs.
  • There is no damage and no sign a candle was ever inserted into either holder.
  • Dated:  No.
  • Signed/Marked:  No, the Monk is not, but we have the insert photographed and the box.
  • NOTES:  This was purchased from an auction house many years ago in a lot of pewter and silver pieces.  I've been sitting on it because I wanted to find out more about it.  So far, I have not been successful, but I must admit, I did not call the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
