The Sigma Corporation recently announced the launch of the new SIGMA DG range of filters which is optimised for digital SLRs. The new filters benefit from the super multi-layer lens coating, developed for the EX filters, modified to counteract the highly reflective characteristics of digital image sensors reducing both flare and ghosting. Black rimmed glass eliminates unnecessary internal reflections.
C/PL - Circular Polarising Landscape Enhancing lens filter.
Increases Contrast in scene, can vary darkness / blue of sky, enhances cloud, cuts through reflections. Like UV it also helps cut through Haze in landscapes especially snow, sea and mountain scenes.
Polarising filters can be left on permanently for ourdoor use to protect the delicate coating on the front of your valuable lenses, from scratches and knocks.
A UV Filter would be a better protection filter for indoor or low light photography.

Filters are Slim Line so that they can be used on Wide Angle Lenses without Vignetting (cutting the corners off!).
Sigma filters are not cheap! They are made to the very highest standards, equal to, if not better than Hoya SMC filters. They are as good as the lens you are using - A lens is a good as the poorest glass between your subject and the film.
Sigma no longer refer to their multi-coated filters as 'EX'. The filters work just as well on all lenses not just those in the EX range... Circular Polarising Filters can be used on Auto & Manual Focus: Film, digital and video lenses - subject to size.
