HIGHLY RARE AND HIGHLY IMPORTANT ITEMS. WHAT A GREAT SET OF GEORGE IV DINNER PLATES. Christmas is coming and so are my finest items of silver to be offered this year.Please keep looking every day for more really good and highly unusual items of good antique and modern silver. On offer today is a quite sensational and highly rare fully hallmarked set of 6 solid silver dinner plates. These lovely 5 lobed (sided) dinner plates are each assayed in London,1830-year letter p. The marks are deep and clear and are to the base of each plate near to the rim. Bear retailer's stamp for MAKEPEACE LONDON too. Maker's mark for RS-very fine goldsmith Richard Sibley and he is mentioned in Jackson's pocket edition on page 74. Sibley is a fine silversmith and these are superb examples of his work. Their combined weight is a staggering 3661 grams (117.72 troy ounces). The diameter of each is of a very good size at 9.875 inches and the height 0.625 inch. The condition is sensational for their age. Each is unengraved and always has been,definitely no erasures either! A VERY FINE SET OF ITEMS WHICH ARE HARD TO COME BY NOWADAYS!
