Postage for UK Buyers
To keep postage costs to a minimum books are usually sent via the cheapest method available (2nd class within the UK)- if you prefer an alternative method of delivery (such as recorded delivery) please enquire for a revised quote
Please also remember that UK postage prices are now quite complicated (large letters and parcels etc) I sometimes dont know what the final postage cost will be (until it is packed). I will quote an estimated p&p which includes packaging materials & other costs. If it ends up being a little cheaper or more expensive than expected I generally ignore. For large differences I may give a refund.
Postage for non UK buyers
I now routinely only offer items for sale within Europe and only if delivered using AIRMAIL (delivery time 2-6 days) Potential buyers from outside Europe please contact me for estimated postage costs - once again I only use airmail since surface mail usually takes 6-8 weeks to arrive. Leaving feedback is a good way of letting me know the item has arrived safely
Combined postage
I always combine postage for multiple purchases and will pass the savings on to you. This can be significant - unless combined weight is above 1kg (and 2nd class postage is no longer possible). Above 1.25kg it is cheaper to send using Standard Parcels.
Other Info
I always obtain proof of postage for items I send- if it ends up lost or delayed in transit it really is not my fault! leaving negative feedback for this reason is completley unreasonable - far better to contact me and I will try and obtain a refund from the Post Office (may take a few weeks)
Please also note that E BAY is not my life - I have a full time job & family and can only 'do E-bay' a couple of days a week - usually on a Thursday or a Saturday. If I dont send out an invoice straight away or reply to an e-mail promptly - dont be offended. I do however promise to post all books within one week of my receiving payment. The flipside of this is that I also appreciate you have busy lives to lead and will not normally hassle you by sending out late payment e-mails until 2 weeks after purchase date.
Condition of books
Its in my interest to be as honest as possible about the condition of any book I sell - significant defects will be described using standard book trade jargon. The level of detail I use differs whether the item is collectible, valuable or just a trade paperback to be read and enjoyed (I won't waste my time describing in detail a cheap mass produced paperback).
If condition is critical to you please email for more details (or photographs)
As a general guide the following descriptions will be used
Mint - as new
Fine - almost as new, slight signs of use or shelf wear. A Fine Dustjacket has no tears and only minimal rubbing to edges
VG - Very Good condition - this is usually relative to age and 'expected condition'. Item will have no major defects (other than those described). May have a small inscription from a previous owner. A VG Dustjacket may have rubbing to edges and some creasing.
Good - acceptible condition for its age - if its a paperback it will have creases to cover or spine. Book will be intact with tight spine but pages may be yellowed with age. A Good Dustjacket will be intact but will probably have tears and creases or be chipped - It may also be sun faded
Reference / reading copy - Intact and useable but showing major signs of ageing or usage - however still useful as a reading or a reference copy - too good to throw away - will usually have a low starting price
In an attempt to de-clutter my life I will be listing hundreds (maybe thousands) of my books on a wide range of subjects and interests over the coming months - add me to your favourites to keep updated
