Family Mitridae

Mitra (Mitra) stictica (Link,1807)

Shell medium sized, spire whorls slightly stepped, sculptured with closed set sutural coronations and numerous punctate spiral grooves on all the whorls; aperature equal to the spire length.  White in colour with levely rows of rectangular orange spots, aperature sale orange-yellow.

Measures 2.25" (59mm), found in Samar.

Mitra (Mitra) mitra, Linne 1758

Another lovely coloured mitra, large, fusiform-elongate shell with impressed sutures, smooth; aperature large, equal to the spire height, outer lip thick, colour is white with 3 rows of orange dots on the spire whorls, 7 to 8 cm on the body whorl. 

Measures 4.35" (102mm), found in Bohol.

Mitra (Mitra papalis) Linne, 1758

A fantastic shell, large, solid, heavy, cylindrically elongate, with depressed sutures, moderately strong, non-erect coronations and sculptured with 5 to 6 columellar folds; white with rows of small red spots.

Located at Bohol and measures a full 5"+
