This museum-quality reproduction looks realistically old and so are all the incised scenes.
It shows the U.S.S. "Bonhomme Richard" engaged in battle with the British frigate "Serapis" in the North Sea off the coast of North Yorkshire on 22nd September 1779.
The whole story is very interesting, you find it under google searchwords "Bonhomme Richard" + "John Paul Jones".
