Superb set of three die proofs of an unissued design for an early CCCP cosmonaut/Gagarin period space rocket launch.

Progressive stages for a 3p, 6p and 8p set of 3 values in pale blue, blue and then in the proposed issued designs in magenta and blue, on medium, wove card.

Clearly unissued, as a result of the then, Soviet/US "Space race" tensions.

Extremely rare items in both country and Space thematic categories.
