You are looking at a wonderfully stylish retro sideboard made in the 1960's by E Gomme of High Wycombe - more commonly known as G-PLAN (original manufacturers stamp in a drawer). Following the popular Danish designs, this sideboard is wide and low and makes use of simple clean lines. With the vertical lines to the cupboard doors and horizontal lines of the drawers, the visual impact is immediate. On a practical level, the cupboard doors open with an ingenious hinged action to reveal good storage and the drawers run smoothly with the uppermost having beize for cutlery. However practical, it will be the striking design that convinces the purchaser to buy. Picture this item at one end of a room dressed with a piece of beautiful art glass, a modern sculpture or even a widescreen television and you can imagine the design statement that it will make. Is this merely furniture or a work of art in its own right? The decision is yours. Bid now to avoid disappointment.
