SUPERB! Sanyo VTC 5000 Betamax ( Betacord) vcr + access

Up for offer here is a EXCELLENT, condition Sanyo VTC 5000 Betamax vcr.

It was the best selling vcr EVER in 1982 ,outselling even Sony and VHS models.Judging by how many appear on this site i would agree but most are in need of some love especially after 27 years!

PLEASE NOTE:

This machine has had all the necessary mechanical parts serviced and cleaned,checked or replaced with NEW (belts/idlers are a absolute neccessity) where viable or necessary to ensure this item performs to Sanyo specification.I am an ex Sanyo employee so have gained a lot of experience with their vcr's The list is long (if done thoroughly) but this will ensure the buyer that this vcr will perform and last, as reliably and trouble free and for quite some time respectively.It will also highlight if any previous owner has fiddled with tape guides or done unsatisfactory repairs to any mechanical parts (yes it DOES happen) in order to get the machine in 'working order' (yes they do sell for more when described as such but how long will that be for?).The worst problem one of these machines can do is tape chewing,this is usually linked to no or poor FF and REW and the thorough, proffessional overhaul will illiminate this substanceously..Occassionally you can come across a total MINT machine, that will still needs checking out thoroughly.I DO care ....seriously.. and only want these machines to be giving their all in every way possible.Rest assured what i state in this description is exactly what you will receive in return.You Do get what you pay for, unlike most offered.i LOVE the Beta format and still use my unique and well looked after machines regularly.I also would like to think this format WILL outlive VHS!!

Please also be aware most of the vcr's offered have probably never seen a service from new.The Beta's in particular,especially if having been stored ( due to VHS dominance) and are now being brought out of the attic/shed for sale as they now appear to be 'popular' again.The rubber components will nearly always need replacing and a dam good cleaning throughout! Bearings will need a light lubing.Capacitors too will sometimes be (or already are) leaking or non functioning especially in the power supply area.All these will cause grief and problems if unattended too........trust me...........i've seen many.

You won't get those issues here but, if anything untoward should arise (yes these are 27 years old so anything could arise, although the overhaul limits this by quite a margin...... and is unlikely) i will see to it for FREE for a period 12 months.This should give you peace of mind in knowing the item you are receiving has had some real love and care and is working to a very high standard and above all, i don't 'run the other way' (or state 'sold as seen', 'no guarantees','no returns',or even accusing buyers of stealing parts and then trying to claim a refund!........the mind boggles) when problems or concerns arise.............like some do.I offer EXACTLY what is stated ,no more no less.

NOW, onto this particular machine........

Cosmetically it's verging on MINT,(with very light scuff marks to one side that don't penetrate the silver paint.. (see pictures), they are there but hard to see) and appears to have been used very sparingly or light useage, and well looked after, it's THAT GOOD.All buttons are complete  and everything in it's correct place with nothing missing.The front flap is all intact and the plug and lead are complete and safely wired up! Nothing is damaged.Internally this seems to have had very light useage,amazingly clean showing no signs of  high useage. and these machines last exceptionally well when used excessively! Also what you SEE in those pictures are THE ITEMS you will receive.But looks aside it's how it performs that really matters.........I do have high expectations of any vcr i own and they are always as good as you can get them in ALL areas, inside AND out.Sadly for most you can't say that as i'm sure a lot of buyers have already found.

Functionally this item is perfect in every way.The way Sanyo designed it to be.Picture and sound in record and play are as good as this model gets.Fast forward and rewind nice, smooth and fast.Cassette spool braking (when pressing stop) sharp and precise.Forward and reverse search smooth and exactly as they should be.Tape 'take up' when pressing stop, perfect.The tuner and timer sections are flawless too.The clock display is as it should be, nice and bright with no flickering.The tracking control is 'dead on' for a Betamax, virtually needing no adjustment for recordings from many different Beta machines.Also remember that Sanyo were the ONLY Beta manufacturer to have the tape unthreaded for the FF and REW modes (from the VTC 5000 model) and this is probably why the video/audio heads on their machines have lasted so phenominally well.Sony machines alas hav'nt had it so good unless lightly used.

This machine has also been utilised by me for the last 1-2 weeks and has shown no faults,problems or issues.If there were going to be any it is usually within that time frame when they start to show.

The testimonies from my Buyers/sellers feedback should give you assurance as to my items claims and the way i treat other E-bayers ...................any of them.

The Sanyo models are perfect for moving over recorded material to another format or enjoying those massive Beta collections some have amassed.(myself included).Extremely robust and well designed and light in weight for it's time too.Please make sure though that you purchase one that HAS had a GENUINE full and thorough overhaul (more than just a belt and idler or even worse ,rubber bands and the idler tyre turned inside out to it's shiny surface!!) and you should have no worries at all.Capacitors in the power supply can also be failing or leaking and these will give rise to various problems but can easily be (or are at the time of the overhaul If faulty) replaced with new.

Basically if you're looking for a,FULLY overhauled, long lasting, simple to use,user friendly, vcr with very good performance ,in exceptionally clean condition,working order,you've found one............The accessories and back up are an added bonus.....

This machine will also come with a copy of the owners manual, a copy of the origional Sanyo advertising leaflet  and a high quality NEW twin PHONO lead/ switcheable Scart connector and BNC socket as a lot want the right connections, so now you have some pretty good ones.

The item will be very well packed as these are thrown around a bit in the postal system and WILL get damaged if poorly packaged.I utilise a 48 hour ( weekday) courier.Insurance IS included up to £50 (but i do pack my items well so it will probably not be needed).

I guarantee this vcr for a period of 12 months for FREE ( out of love for these models and i love what i do) and only posting both ways is up to you or you can personally deliver it if possible.This does'nt inlcude owner abuse /fiddling of the machine or it's parts,especially tape guides and potentiometer settings! in ANY way,lightening or flooding damage, or useage of the dreaded cleaning tapes.(Yes and if overused they WILL wear down your delicate video heads .NOT GOOD!)

 IMPORTANT:PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Beta owners do NOT use excessively old, worn,damaged or dirty tapes in these machines, you'd be surpised how quickly they gum up the heads/pinch roller (the heart of the tape drive system) and leave tape particles all over the tape path and deck.(If one does block up the heads THROW IT OUT!)Also, if you have a broken tape please DO NOT try to splice it ( unless you have a professional tape splicer) as i've seen a couple repaired by wrapping MASKING TAPE around the broken ends.THAT shocking act WILL damage the video heads and get caught up in the pinch roller!!!! The video heads are very delicate and can easily be broken if you take the top off and 'have a go', to try to clean them.Always store your tapes at room temperature,fully rewound and in their cases , any other way or even worse, in the cold ,damp, and you can render them useless especially if mold has formed on the tape! (  this is seen as white powder when viewing through the cassette window).You have been warned!

I also PREFER payment by a cheque (as i don't agree with Paypals ethics especially towards HONEST sellers and charging the seller (not buyer) for the priveledge and having to wait up to 5 days to get the monies transferred to your account, same as a cheque), so please bear this in mind when making payment.This method of payment is now being FORCED on sellers of used electrical items (probably because of a lot of dishonest sellers),including those who do NOT ripp buyers off.Just adding to Paypals expanding coffers.Think of it like being charged 4% every time you withdraw your cash out of your bank account and you'll appreciate where i'm coming from.
