A superb example of a Victorian 14 day strike mantel clock, C1890.
Having been serviced this clock is for sale in good working order and is a good timekeeper.
Manufactured by the renowned clockmakers, Hamburg American Clock Co. of Germany.
H.A.C manufactured clocks in the black forest area of Germany between 1883 and 1929 and are identifiable by their classic crossed arrow trademark.
The sprung driven twin train mechanism has an unusual and rare 14 day mechanism, striking the hour and half hour by means of a coiled gong and being regulated by a brass bobbed pendulum.
The 4.5 inch cream enamelled dial with original hands, has roman numerals and brass collared winding holes being surrounded by a 5 inch brass bezel. There is some minor age related staining to the dial.
The mahogany veneered case has achieved a wonderful rich patina through years of polishing and is in good condition with only minor scuffs and bruising commensurate with age, so adding to its character.
Approximate overall dimensions are:
18.5 inches high including the pediment and top finial X 12 inches wide X 5 inches deep.
