SUPERB ANTIQUE MINIATURE GRANDFATHER CLOCK BY HAC c1900
What is it that the "experts" harp on about? Quality and condition! Well here is a superb miniature Longcase/Grandfather clock that is as fine an example, as you will find anywhere.
The case is of walnut veneer over a pine carcass. Sounds simple enough, but please make use of the enlarge feature to enjoy the detail and skill that has gone into it's making. The colour is wonderful, burnt honey. This is lifted so much higher by the glorious decoration. Considering it has a 100 years of life under it's belt, it is still bright and complete. Standing 12 inches high, just over 4 1/2 inches wide and only 3 inches deep, it is "small but perfectly formed", and is of stunning proportions.
The dial has had just as much care lavished on it as the rest of the clock. It is engraved, silvered and wax filled just like its bigger brothers....a treat.
The movement is marked with the "crossed arrows" of the Hamburg American Clock Co, who started life in 1883 in the heart of the Black Forest of Germany. They continued to make clocks until their merger with Junghans in 1930. This clock I would date to c1900. It even retains its model number sticker to the rear (1288).
This lovely little clock is in full working order, keeping good time and comes with a key, ready to go. It is in surprisingly good condition, stunning to look at and a great addition to any collection. The only concession to age is 5 old worm holes (long gone). Once again, please take the time to enlarge the photos; I think it’s worth the wait.
