A very beautiful ANTIQUE English Sterling Silver thimble. It is 114 years old and still in superb condition. There are no needle holes, dents or distortions. The base rim is just a little out of round. It has a good set of Hallmarks, which read as follows:- Size No. 14. H.G&S. LION PASSANT, indicating English Sterling Silver. Horizontal CHESTER CITY SHEILD, being the Assay Office. Upper register standard G., the date letter for 1895! The thimble has a generous plain base band that carries the Hallmarks. The remainder of the thimble is covered in a spectacular, close knit, interlocking Daisy Head pattern. It measures 22. mm. tall, with a base diameter of 15. mm. It weighs in at 4.6. grams of solid English Sterling Silver.
