A beautiful antique French marble and ormolu
(gilded brass) portico clock set. It is classical in style, the clock is mounted
between a classical four column portico. Urns are ovoid in shape with ormolu
handles and pineapple finials.
Marble is a very nicely figured specimen
marble and the ormolu mounts are finely modelled. Pendulum depicts the sun god
and can been seen swinging below the movement between the columns of the case.
The dial is enamel on
copper, decorated with floral swags delicately painted between the numbers of
the dial. Hands are gilded fretted brass.
The French movement
is of the highest quality and is unusual in being silver plated. It is in excellent clean and running condition having
been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Ormolu pendulum is original. It runs for 8
days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear

Condition of the case is excellent, marble has
a very good polish with no major chips or scratches, just the usual tiny nibbles
to the edges.
Ormolu is also in very good condition with a bright and clean finish, just some
slight cracking to the ormolu capitals of the pillars. Dial is in
very good condition with no chips or scratches.
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions
supplied if required.
