Service History:

Unlike most BMWs, this 523 started it's life in private ownership and it's first keeper was a gentleman based in Sussex. In August 2003 with the mileage just 33000 the car was sold as an approved used vehicle by Whitehouse BMW Keston (and I have the invoice for almost £14000!)  to it's second and last custodian, an elderly gentleman from Kent. He and his wife kept the car almost five years and have just bought a brand new smaller vehicle. The 523i, which was traded-in, is looking for a good new home again. For some reason the original service record did not come with the car but I've contacted BMW Customer Services and the last owners who confirmed the service history and of course the low mileage of the vehicle. The available details follow below:

After the BMW extended warranty expired in 2004 the last keepers of the vehicle had it looked after by a very reputable local german cars specilist - BMW & Mercedes Car Services of Knockholt, Kent. The vehicle has been there at 46249 miles in July 2005, 56421 miles in July 2006 and 66275 miles in July 2007.

Mechanical condition:

As you would rightly expect from a BMW with such mileage, it still is in very good mechanical condition. The engine always starts at the turn of the key and is smooth and whisper quiet with the temperature always normal. The cooling system, brakes, suspension, and auto gearbox including manual mode all work fine. The car drives superbly, the engine has a lot of pulling power and if treated with care and driven sensibly this BMW can provide you with plenty of practical and reliable motoring in absolute comfort.

 

Bodywork: 

As I hope you can see from the images, the car still looks great and the Oriental Blue metallic really gleams in the sun. Condition wise it's very good and certainly looks a lot better than many newer cars out there. It is not 100% perfect and there are a few minor marks. I can see a couple of touched-in scratches on the nearside front door, small scuff marks on the bumper corners and several stone chips on the bonnet and grille. There is also a small ding (the size of a 2p piece) on the edge of the bootlid above the BMW badge - you can spot it in one of the pics above. 

All tyres are top quality Continental - expensive and always a sign of caring owners. All tyres are very good and have around 4-5mm thread. The spare is a full size on an alloy wheel and has around 4mm thread. The lovely 15" multispoke alloy wheels are almost free of kerbing marks, look great and really set the car off.

Interior   

The interior looks almost as new - and I very rarely say this about a used car. As I hope the pictures show it's very clean and with almost no signs of wear, not even on the driver's seat and front passenger seat. The carpets have been protected from new by overmats and are excellent and so are the steering wheel leather and dasboard trim. The ashtrays and cigarette lighter are completely unused and best of all there are no signs of a dog in the car. Even the boot is nice and clean without any scuffs on the trim.

All electrical and electronic equipment works as it should including the windows, mirrors, remote central locking, alarm, stereo, changer, displays and lighting, aircon (Ice cold!), climate control and heating.

Customer expecations:

Please bear in mind that this BMW is no longer new. It is almost ten years old, many moons have passed since it left the factory and it's not 100% perfect so do have realistic expectations. It still is an excellent, solid and reliable motor which can be used daily and will provide its new owner with a lot of comfortable trouble free miles for not much cash. The price of the car new with the options was around £29K and now I am asking for around 12% of this! The CAP guide values this model with this spec at over £4000 and on a garage forecourt a similar car (if they can find one) will probably have a price tag of around £3995 - £4995. Compare that to my Buy It Now price and remember that my reserve is even lower.

 

This is a lovely low mileage example, very well looked after, has excellent provenance and is HPI clear, good spec including cd changer and climate conrol, full MOT and had a full valet this week. And can be delivered to you for less than the price of some train tickets.

For your peace of mind: If you arrive to collect the car but find that I have knowingly misdesribed or misrepresented it you will be free to walk away without completing the purchase and I will not leave negative feedback. In fact if I think that you are not entirely satisfied with the car I will prefer not to sell it. If however this happens after the car has been delivered to you the full delivery charge will still apply.

 

I will accept cash payment upon collection of the car or bankers draft subject to verification. I also accept most major Credit and Debit cards (except AMEX). PLEASE NOTE: Credit Card payments have 2% surcharge. Debit card payments do not have surcharges. For card payments with customer present I will require proof of ID to match the name on the card and you must know your PIN number. In case you require delivery, the payment will be taken by phone in advance and the car will only be delivered to the address the card is registered on, again an ID will be required. 

The vehicle is HPI clear - shows one cherished number plate transfer, not on finance, not subject to insurance total loss, not stolen, no mileage discrepancy etc. Printout confirming this status will be provided.

 

 

The car is located and can be viewed in Willesden, NW London - easy access from M4, A40, M1 and A406. I can deliver the vehicle within 160 miles from London (subject to my discretion and your preferred times, if you are unable to collect from London please ensure I can deliver to your area before bidding, especially if it is a rural area). The delivery charges are set at £49 + VAT up to 50 miles, £69 +VAT up to 90 miles, £89 +VAT up to 120 miles and £119 + VAT up to 160 miles from NW10. Some deliveries are subject to a deposit - please email me in advance or call me to arrange delivery before bidding.
