Infrared photography &
Infrared filter
An infrared filter is a filter to block visible light and only pass
infrared light into a camera. It is a necessary
accessory for taking infrared photography.
Choices of
Infrared filter
There are many infrared filters of different brands and different
"cutoff wavelength" in the market. Which one is the best
filter? Actually, there is not one best filter - There is one best
filter for any particular situation. The best filter depends
on the lighting conditions, camera and object being photographed.
Suntec IR-750 is an infrared filter with cut-off wavelength 750nm,
which is exactly similar as a Kodak Wratten 88A. Cutoff wavelength
is a technical terms in infrared photography. Simply,
the larger the Cutoff wavelength the filter features, the lesser the
visible light can be entered into the camera. So a filter with
750nm will produce a more pure infrared picture than does by a 720nm
one.
