SUNDERLAND LUSTRE JUG A very early example of a Sunderland Lustre jug circa 1820. On one side a picture of the cast iron bridge over the River Wear, built by R Burden Esq, opened 1796. On the other side the poem 'Forget me Not' The sailor tossed on stormy seas, Though far his bark may roam Still hears a voice in every breeze That wakens thoughts of home; He thinks upon his distant friends, His wife, his humble cot, And from his inmost heart ascends The prayer forget me not The handle is missing, see pictures and various chips as photos show The spout is rubbed but okay, chips around rim as shown and small hairline crack measuring about 2cm on back rim descending from chip shown in photo. The base is unmarked Approx 11cm high, rim approx 8cm wide (not including spout) A very early example for the enthusiast with a very low start and no reserve Postage quoted is for the UK only Item will be sent by Recorded Delivery |
