Blackpool, 1952 January 13. Program from The New Opera House for "A Harold Fielding Concert".
SUGAR CHILE ROBINSON (born Frank Robinson in Detroit in 1940), a pianist/singer who is billed as "America's Sensational Rhythmic Child Pianist", was a musical prodigy who made his first recording at age six. After signing with Capitol Records,
he had hits with "Numbers Boogie", "Caldonia" and "Christmas Boogie '49". Robinson, who appeared on television and in short films,
toured the U.S. and the U.K., making an appearance at the London Palladium.
RONNIE MILNE appeared with the Stargazers (billed as "Britain's 'Top' Vocal Combination"), whose members included David Carey, Cliff Adams, Marie Benson, Fred Datcheler, Dick James, Eula Parker, Bob Brown and June Marlow. British vocalist
ANNE SHELTON (1928-1994), who was billed as "The Golden Voice of Two Continents",
began her recording career at age 15. Best known for entertaining at British military bases during WWII, she also had her own radio show and appeared on the
Variety Bandbox radio program with Bing Crosby.
Shelton made her first U.S. tour in 1951, the year before this concert. She had her biggest hit, "Lay Down Your Arms" in 1956. Blue cover is scuffed, right corners creased, chipped at blank right edge. Signature page is lightly creased, touching the "n" of Robinson and 1 word of Milne's writing. Overall, fine condition.
