A WARDROBE FIT FOR EDWARD VII :
In the glory years of Edwardian cabinet making, a wardrobe was created by some of the country's finest craftsmen in the Sheraton revival style that was so much 'en vogue' at the time. Although lacking a makers label, it is clear from the quality of this item that it could only have been made by one of the foremost cabinet-making firms. This exceptional wardrobe features a central, bevelled mirror door flanked by two panelled doors. The mirror and right-hand doors open to reveal excellent hanging space with original hooks and a later hanging rail. The left-hand door opens to reveal a shelf, four press slides and two drawers. These sections sit over a base section with two further wide, deep drawers and elegant tapering feet. The whole piece is then crowned by a shaped pediment with inlays and dentil decoration. The selection and placement of the satinwood veneers and the stringing inlays for maximum decorative effect along with the use of outstanding quality handles which have been silver-plated (as have the hinges) lift this wardrobe into the premier league of furniture design. This really is a quality item which would make an excellent buy for the discerning customer who is looking for the combination of classic decorative appeal with excellent functional storage. This type and quality of wardrobe would sell for over £4000 in a good London Antiques showroom and you can find them being offered by ebay vendors with a £1900+ Buy It Now price but this one is being sold with a 99p starting price and NO RESERVE. Bid now to avoid disappointment. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHOTOS BELOW.
PLEASE NOTE : There is a near matching satinwood bedside cupboard finishing 15 minutes after this wardrobe which you may wish to consider should you be the lucky buyer. Please see 'sellers other items.'
