This truly is a very stunning art deco, solid sterling silver butterfly brooch with enamel wings and body.

The wings are a very pretty lilac colour, with two little jewelled red spots and detailed veining underneath the enamel on each wing. 

The body is enamelled in lime green, and the contrast with the lilac wings is particularly attractive.

The brooch measures 3.7cm across the top of the wingspan. 

I am not a jewellery expert, but would describe the condition of the brooch as mint, with no damage, scratches or repairs to the enamelling or silver.

It is marked ‘sterling silver’ on the back and has the well-known maker’s initials JA&S (John Atkins & Son of Birmingham, England) in a diamond lozenge shape and the serial number 1085.  The brooch has the usual ‘C’ clasp and pin fitting, also in excellent condition.
