A FINE DUTCH/FLEMISH FIGURE SUBJECT OIL PAINTING - STREET MUSICIANS
 

AN OIL PAINTING ON BASE METAL DEPICTING DUTCH/FLEMISH STREET MUSICIANS. THE PAINTING IS OF CONTINENTAL ORIGIN AND IS PROBABLY AFTER AN EARLIER ' DUTCH/FLEMISH ? OLD MASTER' PAINTING OF THE SAME SUBJECT .THE PAINTING IS UNSIGNED AND UNDATED BUT WOULD DATE TO THE LATE 1800's PROBABLY FROM AROUND THE 1880's TO 1920's.THE QUALITY IS PRETTY GOOD.IT IS LIGHTLY DIRTY AND HAS VERY LIGHTLY DISCOLOURED VARNISH TOGETHER WITH A NUMBER OF SCRATCHES AND THIN FLECKS OF PAINT MISSING AND SOME BUMPS,DIGS AND SCRATCHES.

IT IS PAINTED ON BASE METAL WHICH HAS BEEN BACKED INTO A FRAME WITH A PIECE OF WOOD.IT IS FRAMED IN A 'RUNNING PATTERNED' FRAME PROBABLY OF RECENT TIMES,OF GILT AND WOOD AND GESSO WHICH LOOKS VERY GOOD WITH THE PAINTING.THE CONDITION OF THE FRAME IS  GOOD SAVE FOR A CHIP OF GESSO MISSING FROM THE LEFT SIDE 'RIB' OF THE FRAME WHICH HAS FALLEN OFF SINCE THE PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN AND A FEW VERY SLIGHT BUMPS,CHIPS AND SCRATCHES.

 

 

 

Painted in Oil on Framed Base Metal which is backed into the frame by a  board - The Painting Measures 

7 1/2 ins High x 8 ins Wide
