Completed shortly before his death in February 2000, the book spans his playing career,697 league games, oldest player to appear in the top division,over 1800 games in all till his last game in Brazil aged 70,never once cautioned or sent off,only man to be knighted whilst still playing the game,first ever footballer and european footballer of the year,first footballer to be knighted. WHAT A COLLECTION OF FIRSTS,but he had to have 3 bites of the cherry before he won a cup winners medal in 1953, a match known universally as "Matthews Final".

Probably England's greatest world football ambassador, he is truly a legend,the likes of which we will never see again.

            The hardback 442 page plus 24 colour/black & white plates is in an EXCELLENT condition throughout publishers price £18.99.
