Beautiful Spring Mexican Papel Picado (which means punched paper/paper cuts in English) featuring birds, hearts, flowers and other universally appealing images.   

These are wonderful works of art whether used as pretty banners for inside and out (spring/summer) or incorporated into your crafts and art projects.   I have customers that have mounted and framed individual banners to make a stunning art display in their homes.    I also have Christmas themed papel picado in-store if you want to add some authentic Mexican Fiesta style to your traditional decorations this year!

Product information:  Multicoloured Mexican handcut tissue banners.   Total length is 13ft - 10 paper cut sheets per banner, each sheet is 14" Width x 9" Height. 

  

About Papel Picado

 

 

Papel picado is a traditional folk art used across Mexican villages to decorate altars, tables, ceilings and plazas during festivals and especially the Day of the Dead holiday.  With a paper pattern to guide them in their work,  Mexican papel picado artisans use a hammer and very sharp chisel to cut through up to fifty sheets of tissue paper at a time to produce these wonderful intricate images.    These are then glued onto string to produce these fabulous colourful banners.   Another superb example of how Mexican traditional folk artisans are attracting new contemporary audiences to their work across the globe.
