For the seventh year running Expansion Records have compiled the best of the year’s most played modern soul tunes, both new and ‘revived’. With some exclusives added into the mix, “Soul Togetherness” is once again the year’s most essential compilation for any discerning soul fan.

     Every track tells a story to justify its place on the album. Kirk Franklin “Looking For You” with it’s re-write of Patrice Rushen’s “Haven’t You Heard” has been this year’s biggest party soul record by far. Meanwhile Aura Jackson’s “Walkafteru” is the first modern soul anthem to be broken by a myspace website and brought to you here exclusively as an official release for the first time. 2006 has also been a big year for Alexander O’Neal after concerts, TV appearances and the song “Lord” bringing him back to mainstream attention. We also have an International World Soul flavour to this year’s compilation with huge modern soul tracks from Italy (two tracks including a much sought after track by the platinum dance selling act Black Box), Finland (Janita), USA (including the first official UK release of Peter Hadar’s steppers anthem “First Sight”), UK (Jersey Street featuring Dawn Zee), Sweden (Trace), and for the first time Spain with the stunning Incognito like single “I Feel Love” by the Leo Mendez Group.

     We also revive two 70s gems by Millie Jackson and Luther Ingram with a brilliant remix of a track by the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin.

Album released to co-incide with the massive Togetherness soul weekender which this year makes a historic appearance at the Blackpool Tower in November.
