Most impressive of all and keenly welcomed by film buffs is the Sony's HDMI output with 1080P upsampling. Provided you have a suitable HDTV, upsampling your existing DVDs gives the opportunity to view them in near-Blu-ray quality at a fraction of the price. Match to a suitable TV, and the DVPNS718 is capable of stunning images the like of which you wouldn't have credited from DVD just a few short years ago.

Yet, even if you've yet to buy an HD Ready TV and are still using a conventional one for the time being, the DVPNS718 still has much to offer. Although primarily a DVD player with HDMI, the DVPNS718 offers the further choice of component or RGB SCART. Either way the latest DVD software ensures a picture that's full of detail and has excellent depth and realism.

DVD players have always excelled at being versatile and the DVPNS718 takes versatility to new levels. In addition to being able to play DivX, SVCD, DVD+R DL and pretty much any other blank disc format you care to throw at it, this Sony DVD player will also play the latest HD JPEG format

As you'd expect from Sony, the DVPNS718 is smartly presented and slick in operation. Just four buttons grace the front panel, whilst an easy to use remote control operates a comprehensive range of screen menus.
