On offer here is an original porcelain enamel PICTORIAL sign for 'SISSONS BROTHERS & Co. Ltd. HULL ENGLAND. Manufacturers of "LANCER" brand varnish; "SISCOLIN" powdered distemper; "SISCO" varnish paint & "CHEETAH" brand varnish' complete with 4 pictorial images of the tins and cans. The sign measures 48" (122cm) wide x 18" (46cm) tall and dates from the 1910s - early 1920s period, no manufacturer's mark. This lovely sign is in excellent condition with minimal chipping and damage to the surface. I would grade it a very good 9 & 1/2+ out of 10, ie virtually mint. Very minor scattered edge/hole chipping, one very small chip to the H of BROTHERS, first class gloss finish. The winning bidder will be very pleased with their purchase. Please bid with confidence. I have placed a reserve of £425 on this sign. It will be quite heavy for overseas posting (5.8kg as it stands) plus I will attach two strong wooden battens along the long edges to avoid any bending during transit. Very secure packing assured. Please enquire for posting costs, or any further close-up pictures etc. The back side has been painted over so is not shown. Guaranteed original.
