Set in Hollywood in the roaring 20s, co-starring Jean Hagen and the incomparable Cyd Charisse, and featuring a spectacular, 12-minute "Broadway Ballet" finale, it is indisputably, " the most enjoyable of all American movie musicals" (Pauline Kael).
